NOT THE SAME (from the Short Film "Red Clay")

Yeah
Just another day in America
Politics, hollow tips, fentanyl, rocket ship
Scholarships, ownership, partnerships
My partner heard this shit, told me to drop this shit (yeah)
The .223 came with binoculars
Told her, "If you love me, tat my name on your esophagus" (alright)
That's right, you guessed it, dawg
A blessin', dawg, raised around techs and all
I still try to share extras, y'all
But if I say no, it's like I never said yes at all
I ain't gon' lie, I miss big sis in the choir
I miss Pop tellin' me that we was eye for an eye
Roof for a roof, dawg, roof for a roof
He died right in front of me, I still don't know what to do (still)
Told you we are not the same, I am nothin' like you (nah)
And if I talk about the pain, I overcame it, salute
I'm not the same, I'm not the same, not the same
Some things have changed, oh, I'm not the same
And if I've learned anything, anything
It's that if the world ain't gettin' no better
It's a battle, get mine, get mine
Truth be told, I used to look up to Rome
He was rappin' before me and he was fuckin' all the hos
Nigga, Goat work the stove, my big bro was Jay Brown
Chi said, "Only way to come up is to stay down," uh
Plans to get rich, but they ain't come to fruition
Man, I had to pack my shit, I ain't have to pay tuition, uh
85 South on the way to the Gump
I watched the Hawks way back when Dominique double-pumped, uh
Hit a right-quick on the seat, double-pump, uh
Knock a nigga right off his feet, double-pump, yeah
Dolla was the husband-to-be, I was the best man
Niggas had that garbage as weed, I had the trash can
Playaz Circle for life, nigga, never forget it (never)
5540, we was handlin' business (true)
God, help us accept the things we can't change
From trappin' in the rain to on the stage with Wayne
I'm not the same, I'm not the same, not the same
Some things have changed, oh, I'm not the same
And if I've learned anything, anything
It's that if the world ain't gettin' no better
It's a battle, get mine, get mine
You know, once you get a lil' change
They gon' say you changed
But you not supposed to stay the same
You hear niggas say, "Man, you know, like
But I'm the same, ain't nothin' change," you know, like
That mentality right there, you know
I can't knock it, you know, I ain't against it
I understand where it's comin' from
But why would I still think the same
When the motion different?
When the ocean different
When the lotion different
I'm not the same, I'm not the same, not the same
Some things have changed, oh, I'm not the same
And if I've learned anything, anything
It's that if the world ain't gettin' no better
It's a battle, get mine, get mine
Get mine, get mine
Get mine, mine
